Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements
Promissory Notes
Students must sign a promissory note each time a loan amount is awarded.
- If you have a bank loan, your lender should provide you with a note to sign.
- If you have a campus-based loan, refer to the Bursar's Office signing promissory notes policies.
Outstanding Tuition and Fee Charges
Students must make payment arrangements to satisfy any UW-Madison outstanding Tuition and Fee Student Account balance due.
- Contact the Bursar's Office if you have questions concerning an outstanding Tuition Account balance.
Student Loan Holds
Your records may be held due to one of the following
student loan obligations:
A Past Due Student
Loan Payment.
An Improperly Executed
Promissory Note From A Previous Semester.
Incomplete Exit Interview
Documents.
These obligations must be met before your aid is
disbursed.
Bank Loan Entrance Interviews
- Students enrolled at UW-Madison who receive a bank loan for the first time must attend an Entrance Interview at the Office of Student Financial Services
- Bank loans are not disbursed until the Entrance Interview is completed.
Credit Loads (Fall & Spring Semesters)
- In general, students enrolled for less than half time
cannot receive financial aid.
- Students who are not enrolled for the number of credits listed below must
obtain a release from the
Office of Student Financial Services
in order to receive aid.
